I live overseas. I had my brother bring this to me when he came for a visit. I use it with a SG 500Gb External HD to store all my movies and TV shows, and I play it over a Pico Projector. It was a very inexpensive setup, in a country where buying a decent size tv and dvd player setup would be prohibitively expensive. Plus I can fit this setup in a backpack while I travel.
Pros: It's small, doesn't take up space in a suitcase or on the shelf. It's easy to set up and start using. The interface is easy and fun. It detected all my AVIs without exception. It gives a preview for about two minutes of each show if you don't press play right away. This is great if I am looking for a specific episode.
The remote is the right size. Not so large that it's bulky, and not so small that I have to use two hands to press a small button.
Cons: Some kind of auto-volume control would be nice. It's rough when one show blows you away and the next is inaudible. I know this is not the devices' fault, but I bet some devices like this have a solution for this problem.
Conclusion: I really like it. Because of its afford-ability, I would probably chose this device even if I lived stateside.

This tiny USB device is great for watching tv programs or other avi format videos. The box is small and does not take up much space. Navigation with the remote is straight forward and the menu is bold and simple.
Component picture looks great, but the cable is a little on the short side, so you are a little limited on where you can place the unit.
Great buy for those who are tired of burning dvd'd.

Incredibly slow, clunky piece of equipment. Does not support 1080. Reboots about 80% of the time when you go to view one video file from the previous. Mini remote easily lost. All around a big disappointment. Soured me to all WD products. Already in the market for a new one

Even after converting all my files to lower quality, the thing works like junk. If you pause a show for too long it won't resume playing. I might freeze and then restart itself randomly. If you don't have TV it is better than nothing, but definitely not good.
I would never buy this product again. I recommend you do not buy this product, buy something that works.
Also, if you have a password on your external drive you will have to put in the password, then the device will freeze for 30 seconds, reboot, and then you'll have to put in the password again and wait another 20 seconds for it to work. It's really really pathetic. But like I said: if you have absolutely no other option and don't want to have 'nothing.' Then, and only then, is it worth the money.
